Financial Advice

Gone are the days when investment equaled stocks or a pension plan. Nowadays people equate property with investment and more and more people are looking at purchasing property in more temperate climes either with the idea of renting it out or to retiring there when the time comes.

With the unstable conditions of the stock market and the bad publicity that insurance and pension companies have been receiving lately, more people turn to real estate for their investments.

Some people may dream of a white Christmas and a winter wonderland, but statistics show that majority prefer to live in a place with a more gentle climate, a less harsh environment, and a more relaxed lifestyle.

There are two ways that you can look at when making an investment: short term and long term investment. Most people who look for short term investment choose property in highly popular locations that are sure to be rented out often and immediately. These properties often come with a high price tag.

However, most buyers prefer to take the long term view keeping in mind that property values often increase over time. People who look into long term property investment keep in mind the following things:

• Will the property be in high demand?
• Is it in a popular location?
• Would I like to live there?

Most long term buyers choose property with the purpose of using it themselves whenever they want. Most Northern Europeans choose to head for the sun and choose vacation spots by the beach, while people from warmer climes prefer to go to the cool isolation of mountain chalets.

Property investment versus equities and pension --- when compared property is just a more tangible and saleable product. Property ownership allows you to enjoy your investment or to cash in on it.

With a bleak financial outlook coupled with a stressful lifestyle, it is no wonder that many people turn to overseas property investments.
